Among the echoes of pundits extolling the virtues of synchronizing your LinkedIn and Twitter status updates, PCWorld includes a noteworthy clause in the second paragraph:
Twitter integration with LinkedIn makes sense, but don’t forget these two services are very different from each other. Twitter is a very casual and fun network with its short burst messages, while LinkedIn is all about connecting with colleagues, other professionals and furthering your career.
Umm… what?
People don’t use Twitter to further their career? If writer Ian Paul is correct, then I guess my 14-month-old blog post on how employers are hiring through social networking sites, including Twitter, is off-base.
Hmm. Perusing through his recent tweets, it’s clear Twitter is related to personal and career development. Maybe he meant to say Facebook was for fun?

Well, they do have a point. Yes, you can and probably should use twitter to further your network career-wise, but it’s hardly as serious as Linkdin. I mean, unless you use separate accounts for your personal and careers personas, having your colleagues read your personal stuff isn’t always wise
