Chinese food equity

by Ari Herzog on February 1, 2008 · 0 comments

Between weekly meals in Boston’s Chinatown (mainly at the Hong Kong Eatery, Wai Wai, Peach Farm, and Pearl Villa) and the so-called Magoun Square joint, Wang’s Fast Food (in the same phallic-sounding Somerville block as Woody’s Liquors and Pini’s Pizza), I ate Chinese food much more frequently before I moved to Newburyport.

I typically don’t bring-in lunch to work, but get out every day and walk somewhere downtown for lunch. My favorites of-late include Angie’s, the Purple Onion, Stella’s…and Szechuan Taste.

Szechuan Taste makes good food, but for dinner, it’s moderately expensive for my financial taste. Consider my argument this way: an order of three chicken tacos with refried beans and rice at Agave costs 20 cents less than an entree of sesame beef (without any sides) at Szechuan Taste. Where’s the equity?
