Let’s get this straight for the record: If an American is in Afghanistan right now, chances are the person is not vacationing or mountain biking but is a U.S. soldier who faces the threat of terror every day.
Moments ago, I was playing an online game and was chatting with a group of folks from around the world, including a 27-year-old Army soldier from New York’s Nassau County named John Burke.
Burke, a member of the 2nd platoon, Alpha Company, 1-508 Parachute Infantry Regiment, arrived in Afghanistan in January 2007 and is slated to return next month.
The below picture was on his Facebook profile.
Safe travels home, man.
