Mr. Lower,

Like actors and talk radio hosts, the world is overflowing with far too many publicists. But the really good ones find their way out of the fog, through the crowd and up onto a platform where all can see and hear them. :-)

I maintain the day President Obama decides to take part in a Tweet-Up from, say, Eddie Merkles Pancake House in Quimby (Mont.), social media will go to a new level. Think about it -- Having pancakes, a side of bacon and a cup of coffee with the good folks of Quimby. Hillary and Bill are here. Bill will not stop eating. -- 137 characters. One small tweet for man, one giant communique for the world of social media.

CGabriel´s last blog post..Eye on Monday: Chicago

Mr Gabriel;

Well played sir, well played. I was intrigued by this character the publicist, he seems like some kind of sage jedi-master type. ;) I beleive our Predident is inhibited in Tweeting, due to the fact that every and I do mean every conversation he has while holding the job is a matter of public record (unless classified). That was originally why he had to surrender the Blackberry. The fact he has it back means that someone (probably a cadre of attorney types) is hard at work trying to re-write that policy to try to adapt to the changing times and forms of communication. Say "hi" to Nikos!

Hi Terri - I love your term "virtual playgrounds." I still view Facebook as a virtual playground. While there can be no doubt Facebook provides a great deal of value - be it for business use or fun with friends and family - I remain one of the seven people on the planet who has yet to join. And I would hasten to add - my research does indicate there are seven of us. I'm sure I'll join at some point.....but it'll happen when my mindset has progressed beyond viewing it as a playground and more of a workout gym. :-)

I have joined many of the available social communities, but must admit that before reading this post, never really saw any real value in most of them. For the most part, I've viewed them as virtual playgrounds. Thanks for opening my eyes to the potential value these networks may offer.

Marsha, what's remarkable about what you wrote is that I could have written out the exact same statement about 18 months ago. Still, much of this remains a day-to-day learning curve. But like you, I'm committed to making it work...riding the horses that suit me best.
