When he’s not investigating with the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, Adriel Hampton is storming the Government 2.0 clouds as a rising blogger and tweeter. As of 12 hours ago, you can add talk-show host.
About two weeks ago, I received an email from Amy Domestico of BlogTalkRadio, a free service that allows anyone to host an internet talk show. The company provides the back-end and a phone number, and the shows are ad-driven. Citing the success of a Pentagon talk show, Amy expressed an interest for me to get involved in the radio-meets-government-meets-social media sphere.
Because the electronic government world is fairly small, I quickly learned Amy also contacted Adriel; and the two of us agreed to collaborate.
Have a listen to the government troublemakers.
Other voices on the 60-minute recording (initially planned for a half hour, but extended due to 30+ participating listeners and synchronous chatters) include Andrea Baker, Maxine Teller, Steve Ressler, Marilyn Clark, and Michael Russell.
I take the mike about five minutes in, talking about a recent survey that Andy Krzmarzick and I conducted for a presentation next week about social media usage in government.
Adriel plans to rotate podcasting duties in the coming weeks; and he’s suggested I do some guest hosting. Works for me. I’m also amid informal chats with some Boston-area government bloggers (to remain nameless for now) about a different recurring podcast, so stay tuned. That’s not to mention my own plans for a local community TV show…
In related news, I hear there are close to 40 people signed up–so far–for Andy’s and my talk in Washington next week!

Ari,
This was a fantastic first show, and it was super fun to participate and share some of my experiences working with the Social Media Subcouncil (@govsocmed).
I look forward to future shows, and hopefully future participation!

Ari, thanks for the mention. Greatly enjoyed your contributions to the inaugural podcast, and look forward to learning more about the crowdsourced Government 2.0 project you’ve been working on with Andy K./@krazykriz.
My initial appearance was a brief but auspicious one – Always leave ‘em wanting more, I say …and more there shall indeed be.
Honor’s all mine, Mike. If it wasn’t for brilliant minds like yours, I’d be left in the dark.
Government won’t know what’s about to hit ‘em
Nice going guys, look forward to seeing where you go with this.

I wanted to participate longer, but next time I won’t do it in the middle of a conference and actually talk about real work. I sounded more this time like a geek on spring break, which I kinda was. I am so happy for the success of this venture.
