How Digitally Distinct is Your Online Brand?

I am digitally distinct! Visit onlineIDCalculator.comThe badge to the left of this sentence sums my online brand, but how confident are you with your brand?

Using the Google Quotient, which evaluates the volume of search results that match your name, and the relevance of those results, do you know if you are distinct like me or a disaster needing improvement? Or are you in the middle, in either a dissed or dabbling position? Maybe your disguise is nowhere to be found. Don’t fret.

If you take five minutes out of your day to fill out the online identity calculator, you can know for sure where you are and whether you have to contact me for help.

I calculated my identity yesterday after reading how the branding tool works, and as the below scale indicates, I am as digitally distinct as one can get!

Being digitally distinct

I grant you that my name is unique and I have spent many years on the web to position my online brand in the nirvana of identity, with searches for my name yielding thousands of results that reinforce who I am and what I do; but that’s no excuse for you not to be the same.

This calculator can help you determine your footprint and how much farther you need to go to be where you want to be — whether you are a person or a company. Plug in your name, whatever it is, and voila!

My thanks to William Arruda and Kirsten Dixson, co-authors of Career Distinction: Stand Out By Building Your Brand, for developing this nifty application.

I agree; you have carved out an excellent brand. Ariwriter has staying power in several ways. Also your small, square graphic image is a potent reminder of the power of these little but significant tools in building an online identity.

Oh… I didn’t search for the blog name but for my name.

I would agree that your online brand or personal brand can sometimes become very crucial for you specially if you have an online business. I found this posting quite interesting.

I’ve mentioned this before in email discussions with you, but it bears repeating again: checking to see how often you show up in google results is flawed: google returns results based on your past behavior, so I show up more often in my results than I may for yours.

I still ended up as “digitally distinct”, but I’d be curious to know if a stranger ran the same search, if they’d end up with the same result.

Fair point, so either clear your cookies/cache or open a new browser and try the search fresh.

Excellent advice, branding is Uber-Important! Something that I wish I had a lot of time for; however I need to apply a lot more focus to this aspect of marketing
