People just need to be aware they can change their privacy settings. Many don't, because FB doesn't tell them to.

I selectively choose which FB applications I use and not randomly approve all of the ones that are offered. Still, reading this gives me pause. What is to stop these companies from copying your information during those 24 hours?

I feel badly because I just convinced several people to sign up for FB on my assurances that they could control who had access to their personal information. I should tell them about agreeing to install applications.

I stripped back my Facebook profile to the bare minimum and very rarely accept invitations to sign up with 3rd party stuff now.
