With today being the last day Americans in many states can vote for the November election, a viral marketing campaign hit YouTube five days ago when Declare Yourself, the nonpartisan and nonprofit organization founded by Normal Lear in 2003, released a video on YouTube.
Titled “Don’t Vote,” the video urged Americans not to vote unless they cared about standing up to their beliefs:
And today, a similarly-produced video hit YouTube from The Creative Coalition, titled “You Vote”:
Organizations who want to create buzz should watch these videos for inspiration. You don’t need to hire well-known actors, but you do need a message that is timely and the mainstream media can pick up and track.
In the case of today’s video, for instance, Access Hollywood already covered it. You don’t need to get on national TV; your community’s public access TV station is just as worthy.
