I Missed The Rolling Stones

In the months before my eighth birthday, “She Was Hot” aired on MTV.

Until now, I’d never seen the masterful video.

Last night, at the Screening Room, the local 1-screen movie theater that shows a new film every week or two, I saw the Martin Scorsese-directed documentary/concert film, “Shine a Light.”

It was an amazing film. Can I call it a film? It was like seeing the Stones in a live concert, interspersed with documentary bits. I liked it so much, I came home and reviewed it here on the IMDb.

“Shine a Light” sports an equally amazing soundtrack. Oddly, until I just downloaded the album off iTunes, I’d never owned a single Stones song. Maybe it’s an age thing, since I only started to appreciate rock music in the mid-1980s and most of the Stones’ greatest hits were already recorded and released.

I may have missed The Rolling Stones growing up, but I’m trying to catch up now.
