Did you see today’s press release by Boston-based new marketing firm Overdrive Interactive showing their take on a social media map?
“We know how complex and overwhelming the social media landscape can be,” said Harry Gold, Overdrive’s CEO, in the press release. “We wanted to map it all out, so that marketing professionals can use it as a guide to what we believe are the most important social media tools out there. The power of social media is growing exponentially by the day, and now is the time to harness it.”
But that’s not all.
Someone once said that a picture is worth 1,000 words, so I scrounged the web to seek out more social media maps.
To provide you pictures and few words, every map can be clicked to be redirected to the source. All maps are presumed to be in the public domain and are thus here by permission.
Sorry for the blurriness.
And don’t forget what is perhaps one of the best examples I’ve seen all year, initially published in the French newspaper, Le Monde, in January 2008, and reprinted on Mashable.com a month later which provides a neat perspective on global social networks:
Which is your favorite map? Or maybe you have a favorite I didn’t include?
How could these maps be improved? And most importantly, do you have any questions now that you didn’t have five minutes ago?
