Apparently there is some fairly new kid on the Welsh pop music circuit named Duffy. Frequently compared to Amy Winehouse and Rhianna, her new album comes to U.S. stores next week.
I never heard of her until seeing her music video of “Warwick Avenue” on Bob Sassone’s blog.
Then again, as I recently wrote, I’m out of touch with the pop music scene.
I commented on Bob’s blog that while I liked the song, I was put off by seemingly fake tears and a lip synch look in the video.
Maybe I am being too harsh, so I poked at various YouTube videos on Duffy, and I prefer this one of a live performance of the same song from a BBC2 late-night show.
In other music news, I learned over the weekend that several female friends of mine have tickets for the NKOTB concerts this fall. I thought it interesting how Allison and Danielle paid $400 for a ticket package whereas Deb paid $80 for a seat without any other goodies such as meeting the not-so-new New Kids.

You misunderstood me… there ARE tickets that are $400 but unfortunately we are not in possession of them.
Ahh. So you are paying $80 each?
No… we got the crappy seats. $35 each. Doesn’t matter, it will still be a great time!
