Most men and women will agree Cindy Crawford is, and always has been, sexier and better looking than Kate Moss. I agree. Don’t you?

In fact, according to LA fashion designer Bradley Bayou, one of three panelists at last night’s annual public forum presented by the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Harris Center for Education and Advocacy in Eating Disorders, Crawford and Kristy Turlington represented late ’80s and early ’90s models having average sizes of 4 to 6 whereas today’s models must be under size 2 for clothes to sell.

It’s big business, agreed Miss America Kristen Haglund and Paige Premium Denim jeans founder Paige Adams-Geller, where runway models (and print models, to an extent) are walking clothes hangars. The slimmer they are, the bonier they look, the sexier their agents and editors feel they represent. The notion of “heroin chic” is a fad, the three panelists agreed but the fashion industry doesn’t agree as fashion magazines, runways, and family lifestyles are thrown into whack due to young women (some as young as 10) starving themselves to look like Miss America.

Haglund, the 2008 recipient of the prestigous award, used to have an eating disorder. But she got over it. Today’s youths don’t have it so easy with reality TV shows displaying the next big thing as no different than Moss.
