Gillian: Any particular part?

Jennifer: Conversation is not merely something we "can" achieve but is an inevitability as social media gains more ubiquity in the public mind. Those who choose not to do it will be more and more out of touch with those who care.

Noozeguy: The New York Times and Wall Street Journal are excellent examples of international newspapers that went online, have huge digital media staffs, and their reporters are also bloggers on the same server. The better example is one of the earliest adopters, the Detroit Free Press at freep.com.

And thanks for reminding me of the BBC...

Nice post Ari!
You make some excellent points about newspapers and social media.
But it's a larger group... mass media doesn't get the Web (except NPR and BBC and a few others).
On the same day as your blog post, NBC announced it would again sell its shows on iTunes.
That, after NBC initially rebuffed Apple, thinking that the network would be able to solely control the price of its content online.
The common theme seems to be the increasing power of the people.

Ari, Excellent letter. Organizations are so fearful of renegade feedback, they have simply forgotten how much we can achieve with the simple art of conversation, albeit, redefined for web 2.0.
