Personal Branding on Technology Policy

by Ari Herzog on September 8, 2008

Headshot of Jonathan MurrayThe worldwide director of Microsoft’s government relations division, Jonathan Murray, owns a technology policy blog but hasn’t updated it in six months.

This frustrates me, especially as the domain is registered through 2012, he lives in Switzerland, and it’s not the easiest thing to contact him.

I found his blog by typing “technology policy government” into Google which resulted in the keyword-rich technologypolicyblog.com.

Hoping I could learn from the senior technology official’s perspectives on social media, I frowned when I saw the last update was in February 2008.

He links his blog to a LinkedIn profile, where I noticed he’s three degrees of separation from me. On August 21, I sent a message to a contact, asking for it to be relayed through a second person to get to Jonathan.

As of this writing, I see the LinkedIn email trail is “in progress.” I hope it finds its way, else I may be persuaded to call the Microsoft switchboard. I’d enjoy buying the domain from him to increase my personal brand.

Speaking of which, I urge you to visit Chris Brogan’s blog to download a free e-book on personal branding.

Do you own any blogs or other online real estate that are collecting digital dust?
