Someone recently told me that she always thought her grandmother wore a beautiful white wedding gown — until her grandma told her it was pink.
For about 100 years between the first photograph and the introduction of Kodachrome, people posed in white wedding gowns, bought green drapes, and shot the sun rising over the horizon.
Unless one was in the photo or near the subjects when it was taken, who could say for sure that the gown was white and not pink, the drapes were green and not blue, and the sun was red and not orange?
Take a good look at my red hat and white shirt in this photo.
If I didn’t tell you the color of my hat, how would you know? How could you know?
Appreciating the beauty of black and white photography and wanting to translate that innocence into this blog to express myself with minimal background color and sidebar noise, I started looking closely at other sites.
Folks ranging from Joshua Porter to Rein Henrichs to Jason Kottke say what they need to say in a minimalist way. I liked what I saw.
I chose this particular theme after seeing it on Skellie’s blog; and despite the design intended for Wordpress, there’s always at least enterprising individual willing to convert it into Blogger.

As to the idea of my red hat and white shirt planted above, here’s the original:

The minimalism idea is unique in this day and age. This template is perfect for it though. When I figure out the comment icon issue, I’ll let you know.
Thanks for coming around.
Indeed, Eric, it is. I’m tinkering with the code on a test blog of mine. I hope to have something figured out within the hour.
I like that, is it just a little html in the post footer lines or what. Is there a way to put that on the post in normal or home view.
I’m not real good at code, but I can cut and past with the best of them. I can handle some simple stuff.
I like your minimalist style, but I don’t think it would work for me, I like too many different things.
Couldn’t someone with lots of experience with channels in Photoshop or similar make a good guess as to what color a hat might be even from a black and white photo…or is that just a colorful dream?
@Eric: Yes, I copied the code from the other calls and put it just under the post-footer. I’m not done tweaking but it’s better now than before. On my test blog, I’m playing with the code for a snazzier effect but keep getting stuck on one piece.
@David: Dreams can become reality, but that sounds more dreamy.
