Showcase Sunday: The Google on Video Edition

by Ari Herzog on January 3, 2010 · 5 comments

I search for information on Google Search. I write emails on Google Mail. I remember where to meet people with Google Calendar. I suggest people call me on Google Voice. I watch videos on the Google-owned YouTube website. I look up directions on Google Maps. I look at the world on Google Earth. I subscribe to blogs via Google Reader. I read blogs written in other languages with Google Translate. I create documents and presentations on Google Docs. I instantly message with friends on Google Talk. I am learning how to collaborate better with Google Wave.

I also like the changing Google Doodle every day. Do you?

Want to see other Google employees at work?

I am aware there are many Google products I do not currently use, as Henrik Blunck shares this one of Google Toilet:

How are people using Google products?

Ever wonder if you could see aliens at Area 51 on Google Earth? Maybe not, but you can zoom in to other weird things at the top-secret military site:

You can also fly through the sky in Google Earth:

Want to learn how to subscribe to blogs and other dynamic website feeds in Google Reader?

Ever hear of Google Sketchup? Blending Google Earth with 3-D imagery, you can design simulations, as this video shows the recreation of a motor vehicle accident:

…and here’s Google Sketchup showing the detail of a model house someone built:

Looking to the future, I don’t know if we’ll ever see Google Toilet debut but I am looking forward to mainstream adoption of Google Goggles, as this engineering video illustrates:

Now I feel like I take Google for granted :) They are getting ready to really try to blow it up with Nexus1/ If I was Google I would of gave away FREE phones to listen to a 5 second ad as it dials :)
Looking around the site I see you’ve done an awesome job :) Glad I stopped by stumbled :) and thanks for your visit to my blog.

great post Ari. My preference would be to see more diversity from other companies.

John S: Thanks for chiming in about Nexus One (which I’ve heard good reviews about), and for visiting. I await future conversational thoughts from you.

Marko: Do you use any Google apps I didn’t mention?

John C: Diversity from whom? Such as… Microsoft? Mozilla?
