Facebook's is the nicest to keep track, though it is not my favorite service. The intended replies and the relatively clean interface makes it pretty easy for me to see what everyone is doing in a glance. I can modify my home feed so I don't see all the bullshit apps and only get updated on what I care about. I would say Facebook, but I still can’t quite figure out how it configures feeds. I have to click over to the status tab, or else I just get a smattering of those updates in my news feed, sometimes, it seems, purely at random. As I’ve written about on my blog, I like Facebook better as an overall platform, but it’s close to a tie or even favoring Twitter for the kind of “checking in” you refer to in this post. And please don’t get me started on MySpace …

I would say first Twitter -- because that's what twitter is centered around -- and then Facebook. I dont use myspace. Good post!! I like the example about your mom, because your right - it's the same thing. Way to put a different perspective on something we use everyday, (well some of us) haha. Depends on my mood and if I am in “professional” mode or social mode. I have a secret Twitter persona I love to be goofy on, and an identifiable Twitter user name for social networking. I intended Facebook to be professional, and as such keep it pretty straightforward; but it has turned out to be a connection hub with people from my past.
