Twitter and Me

by Ari Herzog on May 4, 2009 · 3 comments

In the first of a series of videos I’ll be making this year, I’d like to share with you my thoughts on why I joined Twitter, how you can do many things with Twitter, and what I think of the follower/following construct.

Lasting about 30 minutes, I also verbalize what I previously wrote about unfollowing you.

It’s interesting to think about how Twitter has evolved from being simple updates between friends the way you began using it to the business and marketing platform it is now. Thanks for sharing that video.

Hi Ari: Just saw your video and enjoyed listening to your personal reasoning and usage of Twitter. I agree that follower count means squat, and the quality is always in what value you provide and receive from people. Of course, each individual defines value in their own unique way. You did talk about value, but never really defined what value YOU get out of Twitter; so I would be interested in hearing that. For me, because Twitter is best when two-way communication takes place, I made a decision to unfollow you too. Some time has gone by and I still read your blog posts. I realized that I think you’re funny, finicky at times ;-) , and provide some valuable insight on the government and social media in general. So I decided regardless of whether or not you follow me back, I’m going to re-follow you today.
