I’d heard neat things about the South by Southwest music conference for years, since its debut in Austin in 1987. I remember listening to Kevin So and other musicians during my college years rave about their time in Texas.
Wikipedia has detail on the conference background and attendees, including the introduction of film and interactive elements in 1994. With the advent of web technologies and social media, the SXSWi portion has taken a life of its own.
That’s where you come in.
Between now and September 4, I ask for your help in voting and/or commenting on my interactive submission: Government 2.0: Measuring the Impact of Social Media. There are over 2,200 submissions for the interactive component of the conference; and only 300 or so can be accepted. Your collective votes on which proposals are worthy count toward 30% of the total. SXSW staff also get a 30% vote and the conference’s advisory board has a 40% stake.
