Blogging, social media, and online productivity are all the rage and here are 81 tips and 385 blogs that epitomize those sentiments.
Ask 1.4 billion bloggers in the world to define a blog and receive 1.4 billion different responses.
- Mark Dykeman of Broadcasting Brain defines a blog as a “personal studio…like a soapbox with unlimited range.”
- Francois Rocaboy calls a blog an “exhibition stand.”
- Sal terms it “a place to let your ideas roam free.”
Mark, Francois, and Sal are only three people but they join Janet Barclay, Sean Aune, Ajay D’Souza, and dozens of other bloggers responding to a groupthink challenge poised this week by Daniel Scocco of Daily Blog Tips.
Scocco defines five features:
*Content is published in a chronological fashion
*Content is updated regularly
*Readers have the possibility to leave comments
*Other blog authors can interact via trackbacks and pingbacks
*Content is syndicated via RSS feeds
I agree with Scocco and the other people I linked above. Rather than be repetitive and phrase words in a cliche, I’ve decided for my weekly roundup to showcase blog posts published this week that help define blogging:

Blogging, a part of social media, itself a part of the world wide web, and even that a part of the internet, is not about “me” pushing information to “you” anymore. It’s not about “my” and “your” or “their.”
It’s about poly-directional conversation, collaboration, and communication using “we” and “our” as the new mediums of information sharing and knowledge retention.
Please visit these bloggers and interact with them on their sites.

Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for the link to my post – I’m glad you found it of interest. The whole question of what it means to blog is a fascinating one – I keep on changing my definition, but I agree with you that interaction has to be at the heart of it.
