Weekly Roundup: Social Media Today

Happy BirthdayAs September winds to a close, I dedicate this weekly roundup to Jerry Bowles and Robin Carey for founding Social Media Today last year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I don’t remember the moment when I discovered the site, though it was probably sometime in June when I focused this blog extensively on social media.

Through SMT, I discovered a slew of people who’s blogs I’ve visited and became instantly attracted to, including Brian Solis who focuses on public relations and communications, personal branding god Dan Schawbel, Australian social networker extraordinaire Laurel Papworth, former Forrester Research analyst Peter Kim, communications and technology converger Shel Holtz, social media marketers Scott Monty, Marc Meyer, Jacob Morgan, and Augie Ray.

Whenever I visit the site, I stumble across new people I never heard of before, click over to their original content, subscribe to their blog feeds if I like their content and style, and check out their social networking profiles. More often than not, I make a new friend.

While SMT focuses on social media topics, Jerry and Robin also maintain three other moderated business communities: The Energy Collective (on green energy and environmental topics), The Customer Collective (sponsored by Oracle, and focusing on sales and marketing), and My Venture Pad (sponsored by SAP, and focusing on venture capital).

Concurrent to a birthday wish, I want to offer Jerry and Robin my heartfelt thanks and a dollop of appreciation for featuring me as this week’s Blogger of the Week.

Ari – thanks for the shout-out. I’m glad to have been able to share my thinking a little more widely, thanks for Social Media Today.

Perhaps we’ll have a chance to meet in person at some point over the next year or so. Otherwise, you know where to find me if you want to exchange ideas.
